Where Can You Find Your Life Purpose?

What Can You Do If You Are
Searching for Meaning in Your Life?

dreaming about your life's purpose? What is your life purpose? Do you know? Have you ever wondered? Less than 1% of the population knows their purpose! That number is way too low in my book. Would you like to be one of the 1% and help those of us on a mission to raise that number, bring it even higher?

Some feel their life purpose is to be a great parent or to be the best they can be in their career. Others feel that their life purpose must be a great undertaking like solving a world problem, feeding the hungry or opening a clinic in an underdeveloped country. Not all purposes are "Mother Teresa" purposes, but they all serve an important role. Chances are you are already living your purpose in many ways, but it's just not clearly defined for you.

People have asked this question for thousands of years. Socrates discussed it, Aristotle taught about it and it has been debated at length in every culture.

Yet the typical answer given when someone is asked what their life purpose is; "I don't know." Or something that is all about "others" in which they forget about themselves. Unfortunately some even think it's about money. Purpose is never about money. In my experience, when you are on purpose the money and other types of prosperity come to you naturally .

Why is it so hard? One reason is there is no generic answer. One's life purpose is as diversified and individual as each person asking. And what you may think your life's purpose should be is often colored by your cultural background. Quite often, other people will tell you what your life purpose is. It can be very confusing.

Two Methods to Begin Finding
Your Life Purpose

One way is to write down:
  • What is most important in your life.
  • What your deepest values are.
  • What interests you so much that time seems to stand still when you are doing it?
  • If you absolutely knew you would be successful, what would you do?
  • If time and money were no object, what would you do?
Compare your answers. Look for the common themes. Ask others what common themes they see. Your life purpose may be found there.

Another method is to take a piece of paper or open a page on your computer and at the top of the page write: What I Want to Do with My Life.

Then start writing everything that pops into your head. Even if it seems silly, even if you repeat things, keep writing. Even if you have to get more paper, keep writing. Eventually, after 20 minutes or even as much as an hour or more, you conscious mind will let go of all of the things you think "should" be your life purpose and your subconscious mind will take over and tell you. You will know when you've hit on it because you will feel that it is perfect. It will ring true for you on an emotional level. The stronger your reaction is to the statement, the more on target you are.

These methods will give you a good base to start with - or you may actually uncover your purpose statement. If you'd like to dig deeper, connect with your Trusted Sources and explore more methods and processes to determine your life purpose, get answers and clarity please contact me.
